Dog Awareness Workshop

What If Your Dog Is One of Your Greatest Teachers?

Your dog is always listening. Not only to your words and commands, but to your energy, your emotions and the way you carry yourself. When something shifts in you, it shifts in your dog.

Our Dog Awareness Workshops aren't obedience training. They're about awareness: slowing down, paying attention, and discovering what your dog has been trying to tell you all along.

Is This for You?

You might be here because your dog pulls on the lead, barks at everything, or can't settle. Perhaps your dog is anxious, boisterous or strong-willed, and you've tried the usual training with little lasting change. Or perhaps you simply love your dog and want to understand them better.

Whatever brings you, you're welcome. So is your dog.

And if you don't have a dog right now, come anyway. You can learn alongside our resident dogs, Sky, PipPop and Silva.

What You'll Learn

At the heart of the workshop are three simple ideas:

  • Guidelines create safety. Dogs feel secure when they know where the boundaries are.
  • Consistency builds respect. Clear, steady leadership helps your dog trust you.
  • Love strengthens the relationship. Affection matters most when it rests on safety and respect.

We also explore balance. A balanced dog isn't a perfect dog. It's a dog that can move easily between excitement and calm, play and stillness. The same is true for us.

How the Day Unfolds

Opening circle. We begin together, sharing what you'd like to change and what you hope to learn.

Pack walk around the lake. For over an hour we walk as a calm, structured pack across the land at Dune Lakes. This is where much of the learning happens.

Silent session. For twenty-five minutes there is no touch, no talk and no eye contact. You simply observe. Many people find this the most revealing part of the day.

After the Workshop

The real change happens at home. Every participant is invited to take our 21-day observation challenge: notice your dog, try something different, and notice again. Small shifts in you can bring surprising changes in your dog, sometimes within days.

As one participant put it: "It's never the dog. It's about you."

Horse & Dog Awareness

If you'd like to go further, our Horse & Dog Awareness Workshop explores body language, boundaries, choice and consent with both animals. It's open to ages 9 to 90, and no experience is needed.

Questions People Often Ask

Do I need to bring my dog?

It's best if you can, but it isn't essential. You're welcome to work with our resident dogs.

Is this suitable for reactive or anxious dogs?

Yes. Many of the dogs who come to us are anxious or reactive. Let us know ahead of time so we can plan the day around your dog.

How is this different from obedience training?

Obedience training teaches your dog to respond to commands. This workshop helps you understand your dog, and yourself, so the relationship changes from the inside out.

What should I bring?

A lead, water for you and your dog, and lunch.
